Regional Council

The new year brings new faces to a number of MAG committees. On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, the MAG Regional Council approved the appointment of Mayor Alexis Hermosillo, City of El Mirage, to the at-large position on the Regional Council Executive Committee. The Executive Committee serves as MAG's finance committee and holds many administrative responsibilities, such as amendments to the budget and contract selections.

The Regional Council also approved the appointments of two representatives to the Transportation Policy Committee (TPC), including Gilbert Mayor Brigette Peterson and Scottsdale Councilmember Solange Whitehead as representatives from two of the seven largest cities and towns under the TPC membership structure. The TPC oversees the development of the 20-year Regional Transportation Plan and guides transportation planning in the region.

Finally, MAG welcomes three new members to the MAG Economic Development Committee (EDC). The Regional Council appointed Mayor David D. Ortega as the Scottsdale representative, Buckeye Mayor Eric W. Orsborn to the West Valley EDC member agency seat, and Fountain Hills Councilmember Peggy McMahon to the East Valley EDC member agency seat. The role of the EDC is to develop opportunity-specific and action-oriented initiatives that foster and advance infrastructure in the MAG region, especially transportation infrastructure that would further economic development opportunities.
