PHOENIX (December 12, 2023) – The Maricopa Association of Governments is developing a plan to address climate pollution for Maricopa and Pinal counties and you have a chance to weigh in on what climate issues are most important to you. The goal is to develop measures to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the region.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program has made available a total of $4.6 billion in competitive implementation grants that will be awarded around the country. As the lead air quality planning agency in the region, the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) was requested to create the regional plan.

“The maximum individual grant award will be $500 million, and that money can go to eligible entities, including municipalities, air quality agencies, and counties for projects to reduce climate pollution,” says MAG Environmental Director Tim Franquist. “People in the region can share what is important to them. That will help MAG put together the best plan to improve the lives of our region’s residents.”

To help inform the plan, MAG is seeking the public’s help in identifying funding priorities. There are two more chances to share your thoughts in person:
