PUBLIC NOTICE ON A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE FY 2026-2030 MAG TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM, MOMENTUM 2050 REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN UPDATE, AND DRAFT MAG CONFORMITY ANALYSIS

The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) is notifying the public of a proposed amendment to the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-2030 MAG Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), MOMENTUM 2050 Regional Transportation Plan Update, and Draft MAG Conformity Analysis for review and comment. The draft documents are available for public review and comment on the MAG website at https://azmag.gov/Newsroom/Public-Notices. Comments are requested by 5 p.m. on May 21, 2026.

The proposed amendment to the FY 2026-2030 MAG Transportation Improvement Program and MOMENTUM 2050 Regional Transportation Plan Update includes Freeway Life Cycle Program projects, General Roadway projects, Arterial Life Cycle Program projects, and Transit projects. The Conformity Analysis includes a regional emissions analysis to support a finding that the amendment to the TIP meets transportation conformity requirements for eight-hour ozone and particulate matter PM‑10 in the Maricopa nonattainment areas, and PM-10 and PM-2.5 in the Pinal County nonattainment areas.

Public comments on the draft documents may be submitted in writing to the address below by 5 p.m. on May 21, 2026. Consistent with 23 C.F.R. 450.326 and MAG’s Public Participation Plan, a 30-day public comment period is held prior to MAG Regional Council adoption of the amendment to the TIP and MOMENTUM 2050 Regional Transportation Plan Update. The public notice of public participation activities and time established for public review of and comments on the TIP will satisfy the Program of Projects requirements. Comments may also be submitted online by visiting https://www.azmag.gov/comment.   

Special accommodations for reviewing the draft documents may be made by contacting Dean Giles at the telephone number below. In addition, public comments are welcomed at the MAG Management Committee meeting on June 10, 2026, the Transportation Policy Committee meeting on June 17, 2026, and the MAG Regional Council meeting on June 24, 2026. After considering comments received on the draft documents, the MAG Regional Council may take action on the amendment to the TIP, MOMENTUM 2050 Regional Transportation Plan Update, and Conformity Analysis on June 24, 2026.
