The Regional Electrification Readiness Strategic Plan prepares the MAG region for an increasingly electric future. The strategic plan includes a range of recommendations and strategies to enhance electrification readiness for MAG and its member agencies. The study:

  1. Assesses the current state and future demand of electrification and regional implications
  2. Defines roles and responsibilities for implementing strategies
  3. Identifies strategic funding opportunities and next steps for action

What is Electrification?

Electrification means replacing technologies and services that run on fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) with ones that use electricity as a source of energy. Electricity may be generated from renewable or nonrenewable sources.

Schedule

The project kicked off in August 2022 and concluded in August 2023. The Plan was accepted by MAG Regional Council in September 2023.
