Regional and Subregional Studies

The Regional Community Network (RCN) has evolved to meet the needs of member agencies, particularly under the ITS and public safety umbrellas. As member agencies increasingly depend on the RCN for various responsibilities, the region must determine the future direction of the RCN, requiring the need for a comprehensive strategic plan. Building upon the findings of the completed RCN Assessment, the strategic planning effort will establish a shared long-term direction for the RCN, identify and prioritize its core regional functions, and align governance, operations, funding, and agency responsibilities with that direction.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is emerging as potentially one of the more significant shifts in modern transportation, and in recent years has been gaining regional, state, and national attention. While AAM’s long-term role is still developing, it introduces new aircraft types, potential infrastructure needs, and regulatory considerations that may have implications for the region’s aviation and mobility networks.

This study will evaluate the existing and future conditions of the study area, inclusive of the future State Route 30, to identify traffic and multimodal concerns to develop a comprehensive transportation network to meet current and future infrastructure needs.

Once complete, the Wickenburg TAMP will serve as a guiding framework for capital improvement planning, development review, and grant funding applications. It will establish clear priorities, cost estimates, and policies to guide decision-making, ensuring that Wickenburg’s transportation system meets current needs while preparing for future demands.

The 2026 MAG Airport Travel Survey collects information on ground transportation trips associated with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Mesa Gateway Airport. Airport-related travel differs from typical daily travel due to distinct trip purposes, timing patterns, and mode choices. Capturing these characteristics requires data that’s not available through typical household travel surveys.

This project explores opportunities to improve multimodal mobility and connectivity to and within the Town of Queen Creek. The study developed recommendations for new applications, technologies, and strategies that improve residents’ local and regional mobility options.
