About the Survey
- The 2026 MAG Airport Travel Survey collects information on ground transportation trips associated with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Mesa Gateway Airport. Airport-related travel differs from typical daily travel due to distinct trip purposes, timing patterns, and mode choices. Capturing these characteristics requires data that’s not available through typical household travel surveys.
- The survey collects how airline passengers, airport employees, and people picking up air travelers access the airports, including where trips began and how long it took. Survey results are used in aggregate to update MAG’s regional travel demand models to more accurately represent airport-generated travel.
- Data collection started in February and concluded on May 15, 2026. We want to extend our gratitude to the participants who provided this important information that will inform regional transportation planning and improve airport access for all.
What to Expect
- The survey is conducted between February and May 2026 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Mesa Gateway Airport.
- Most participants complete the survey in 3–5 minutes.
- Participation is voluntary and responses are confidential.
- Survey results are reported only in aggregate and used for regional transportation planning purposes.
- Individual responses are not shared with employers, airlines, or airport operators.
