Friday, August 11, 2006. 8:00 a.m. to NoonGlendale Civic Center5750 W Glenn DriveGlendale, AZ 85301A safety training workshop for school crossing guards is being organized by the Maricopa Association of Governments in partnership with the cities: Phoenix, Glendale, Avondale, Peoria, Tempe and Mesa. All the school districts in Maricopa County have been invited to send participants. There is no cost to attend this workshop.The workshop will be based on the annual crossing guard training that has been provided by the City of Phoenix for nearly 40 years, and widely recognized as a national model. It is designed for crossing guards, school administrators, school safety coordinators, school resource officers and others.This year, for the first time, the workshop will be geared towards accommodating all school districts in the region. All partnering cities strongly recommend this workshop for all schools within their city limits. The City of Phoenix will not be holding a separate event this year.For event planning purposes we would like to request that interested schools, organizations and individuals register for the event using the Workshop Registration Form.
