There was some very good discussion at the last MAG Standards Committee meeting and we have additional revisions to consider. I call your attention to the following sections in particular:1) 725.10.3 – additional clarification language regarding the engineering study potential – specifically later age cylinder (56 day) testing in lieu of coring 2) 725.11.A.2 – the City of Phoenix took exception to the new 95 degree concrete temperature limit as being too difficult to control. A reasonable compromise that was proposed and discussed was to change the general requirement to 90 degrees but allow a 95 degree limit on low slump concrete mixes3) 725.11.B – additional clarification of the in-place concrete acceptance criteria. There was quite a bit of discussion on this section with some recommendations for changes to further clarify the differences between in-place concrete acceptance criteria based on cylinder test results and the potential for an adjustment in unit price and in-place acceptance based on core test results.The Concrete Working Group will meet to discuss these items on Wednesday, May 13th at 1:00 pm in the ARPA offices. Below a working copy of the draft that has some of the wording changes and sections for additional clarification in red italics. Also included is a recent article from concrete International on 4X8 cylinder variability for discussion.
