School crossing guards are invited to attend safety training workshop at one of the two locations. The first workshop will be in Glendale on August 3, 2007 and the second workshop will be in Mesa on August 10, 2007 organized by the Maricopa Association of Governments in partnership with the cities of Phoenix, Glendale, Avondale, Peoria, Tempe and Mesa. All the school districts in Maricopa County are invited to send participants. There is no cost to attend these workshops.Both workshops have identical content and are based on similar workshops conducted by the City of Phoenix for nearly 40 years, and is widely recognized as a national model. It is designed for crossing guards, school administrators, school safety coordinators, school resource officers and others.The workshop will be geared towards accommodating all school districts in the region. All partnering cities strongly recommend attending one of these workshops for all schools within their city limits. The City of Phoenix will not be holding a separate event this year.For event planning purposes we would like to request that interested schools, organizations and individuals register for the event using the Workshop Registration Form by July 20,2007.
