The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) works with cities and towns to improve road safety in the region. Crossing Guard Workshops provide basic education and training to school crossing guards. This training is essential to ensure that crossing guards do not compromise the safety of K-8 school children or themselves while performing duties. All K-8 schools may utilize this workshop to train their school crossing guards. The responsibility remains with each school for hiring, training, and defining when and where crossing guards are to be on duty.
In an effort to provide consistent, high-quality training that is available year-round, the annual Crossing Guard Training workshops have transitioned to an online platform. The new platform includes updated training videos and materials that crossing guards can access at their convenience. While the content continues to cover the basic education and training for school crossing guards, it is presented in a refreshed and reorganized format.
