Phoenix (June 25, 2025) – El Mirage Mayor Alexis Hermosillo was elected as chair of the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Regional Council today during the agency’s annual meeting. As the agency’s new chair, Hermosillo said her top priority is ensuring the promises of Proposition 479 become a reality.

- Mayor Hermosillo previously served as MAG Vice Chair and succeeds Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke, who becomes Past Chair.
- Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn will serve as Vice Chair.
- Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley will serve as Treasurer.
- At-large members elected to the MAG Regional Council Executive Committee include:
- Mayor Kate Gallego, City of Phoenix
- Mayor Mark Freeman, City of Mesa
- Mayor Jerry Weiers, City of Glendale
- The MAG Regional Council is a 32-member board that serves as the governing and policy-making body for MAG.
