It’s time to make the decisions that will impact your transportation choices for decades to come. General News, Safe and Smart Travel MAG Launches MOMENTUM Engagement Process Transportation PHOENIX (August 14, 2020)—It’s time to make the decisions that will impact your transportation choices for decades to come. First, we need your help. Do you want faster travel times? More transit? More bike and pedestrian facilities? Now is the time to make your voice heard. Mayors, tribal leaders, and other local officials today announced the public launch of MOMENTUM, the next long-range regional transportation plan for the Valley. MOMENTUM will guide our region’s transportation investments for the next 20 years and beyond, and Valley residents are invited to join the planning process. “Our current choices will shape the region for generations to come. This is everyone’s opportunity to ensure that our transportation system allows each of us the freedom and access to quick and safe options to get around,” said Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers, chair of the Maricopa Association of Governments. Maricopa County continues to be the nation’s fastest-growing county, and this rapid growth is stressing our transportation infrastructure. MOMENTUM provides a unique opportunity for residents to influence the direction of the Valley’s transportation planning. The community will be able to participate in surveys, meetings, and other events to share their opinions on a variety of transportation solutions, including: Freeway and roadway improvements Light rail expansions and new forms of high capacity transit Bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure Bus service Safety Technology Valley residents have a long history and a strong record of working with local governments to create great transportation outcomes: from our expansive freeway infrastructure to building a successful light rail system and expanding bus routes. MOMENTUM is the next step in that ongoing process to build a transportation system that allows residents to get around quickly and safely. Developed by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), MOMENTUM will ensure that our region will thrive with growth, instead of being held back by it. A robust transportation system supports and propels our region’s economy forward by creating jobs, supporting local businesses, improving our daily commutes, and efficiently moving goods through our region. When our transportation system is strong, we all benefit. Visit ourmomentumplan.com to learn more about how you can get involved.
