The State Route (SR) 87 Corridor Study area is located along SR 87 between the SR 87/Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) traffic interchange and the SR 87/Gilbert Road intersection as well as McDowell Road between the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) and SR 87.

Public Outreach Event

Join us at the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community ( Earth Day Celebration on April 25, 2026! The study team will host a booth where you can share your experiences traveling on the study corridors and your safety concerns across the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

Study Objectives

MAG and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community are assessing safety and mobility concerns on SR 87 between the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and Gilbert Road as well as McDowell Road between the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) and SR 87.

The SR 87 Corridor Study will:

  1. Assess existing and future travel demands
  2. Develop recommendations to improve safety
  3. Enhance regional connectivity
  4. Support existing and planned development in the area
