US 60 (Grand Avenue) - SR 303L to SR 74 Corridor Study

Study Objectives

The purpose of the study was to conduct a comprehensive assessment of both current and future travel demands within the study area and identify a series of transportation investments that will accommodate the future traffic demand along the US 60 corridor. As part of the study, transportation infrastructure improvements were be identified, not only to address existing travel needs, but also to support anticipated development in the surrounding area through 2050. Through rigorous modeling, community outreach, and identification of key arterial street corridors, the study team has worked to identify a realistic future network for the study area.

Study Area

The study area spans multiple jurisdictions, including the City of Surprise, the City of Peoria, and a portion of unincorporated Maricopa County. The study area is generally bounded by Loop 303 to the east, SR 74 to the north, Bell Road/Sun Valley Parkway to the south and the Hassayampa River to the west.

Project Study Area

This area is growing rapidly. By 2050, the population is projected to reach 272,000 people – more than 6 times the 2020 population.

  • Access to:
    • Loop 303 from US 60 (Grand Ave)
    • Other Loop 303 interchanges
    • US 60 (Grand Ave) from arterial streets
  • Implementation of an Access Management Plan for US 60 (Grand Ave).
