MAG Population Trends, MAG Community Data Explorer and Help Shape the Future of Walking, Biking, and Rolling in Our Region are the topics of the September 2025 Region Rundown. Economy and Growth, General News, Maps and Data, Public Outreach, Regional Profile, Transportation 1. Evolving Housing Patterns For the first time ever, in 2023, multifamily construction outpaced single-family home development, with single-story build-to-rent construction also showing significant growth. The region’s 2.1 million housing units offer a wide range of living options. Multifamily construction is increasing to support growth and changing lifestyles. Trends in new construction, ownership, renting, and development near major transportation corridors help shape the housing landscape and future planning needs. Eighty percent of all multifamily units in the MAG region are located within two miles of these corridors. Evolving Housing Patterns 2.
