Air Quality in the Region The MAG region represents more than 5 million people, nearly 70 percent of the state population, and continues to grow, although at a slightly slower pace than in past years. Growth is projected at one percent per year through 2050, resulting in an estimated 7.1 million people in the next 25 years. As the population grows, it is also aging, with the median age rising from 35 in 2010 to 38 in 2023. Since 2010, there has been a 67 percent increase in adults over the age of 65, and an 11 percent decrease in children under the age of five. The aging population is shaping future workforce, education, housing, and service needs. MAG Population Trends Charts 2. Help Shape the Future of Walking, Biking, and Rolling in Our Region Public input is being sought on improvements to sidewalks, bikeways, off-street paths and access to transit. The input will inform updates to the MAG Regional Active Transportation Plan (ATP), which supports a more connected, safe, and active region. The ATP creates options for how people choose to move around the region, promotes active lifestyles, and helps meet the needs of those who rely upon active transportation the most. You can add your experiences and ideas to our interactive comment map at the link below.
