We would like your feedback to improve Meridian Road
The Maricopa Association of Governments invites you to provide comments on the interactive comment map regarding your experiences traveling along Meridian Road.
Study Objectives
The Maricopa Association of Governments is conducting a corridor study of Meridian Road between Superstition Boulevard and SR 24, in partnership with the cities of Apache Junction and Mesa, and the counties of Maricopa and Pinal. The study will develop a vision for future improvements to address existing and future travel needs for residents and businesses, improve connectivity, and enhance safety for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. The study will:
- Evaluate how new development will affect Meridian Road and the surrounding transportation system.
- Identify the number of lanes, intersection configurations, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities needed to support future travel needs along Meridian Road.
- Consider corridor alignment options and future right-of-way requirements for new connections from Baseline Road to Elliot Road and Ray Road to SR 24.
- Engage stakeholders and the public to develop consensus on the resulting recommendations.
The public will have opportunities to review and comment on the findings and recommendations of the study at key milestones throughout the study process. The study document will include preferred concepts that enable all agencies to move forward to the next steps of design and construction of recommended improvements.
Study Area
The study area extends along the Meridian Road corridor between Superstition Boulevard in the north and SR 24 in the south. The roadway serves as the border between the cities of Mesa and Apache Junction as well as Maricopa and Pinal counties. US 60 corridor bisects the study area. North of US 60, the area is mostly developed. South of US 60, development west of the corridor consists primarily of developed residential communities. East of the corridor there are large areas of undeveloped state trust land, in the early stages of construction of a large master planned mixed-use development. Major east-west cross roads include Broadway, Southern, Baseline, Guadalupe, and Ray Roads.
