Household Incomes on the Rise | Socioeconomic Projections Viewer | First Prop 479 Project Begins | Help Shape the Future of Travel in the North Valley

The following are four things you should know about what’s happening in the MAG region:

1. Household Incomes on the Rise

The region’s median household income has steadily increased since 2010

The region’s median household income has steadily increased since 2010, and was 10 percent higher than both the state and the nation in 2023. This rise is partly due to a growing number of households with multiple workers, which reached 39 percent in 2023, up from 32 percent in 2010.

In 2023, the median household income in the MAG region was $85,700. The median household income nationwide was $77,700.

2. Socioeconomic Projections Viewer

Socioeconomic Projections provide long-range forecasts of population

Socioeconomic Projections provide long-range forecasts of population, housing, and employment across municipal planning areas, jurisdictions and regional analysis zones, helping communities plan for transportation, infrastructure and future development.

The MAG Socioeconomic Projections page provides interactive charts and maps, and includes a link to the MAG 2023 Socioeconomic Projections viewer, where you can see projected jobs and population growth data in ten-year increments, and better understand the data that supports planning and decision-making across Maricopa County.

3. First Prop 479 Project Begins

Work has started on a new Loop 303 and I-17 interchange

Work has started on a new Loop 303 and I-17 interchange, marking the first Phoenix-area freeway project funded through Proposition 479. The project will add travel lanes, build new direct freeway-to-freeway ramps, and improve mobility in the fast-growing North Valley.

MAG planned this project as the first Prop 479 transportation project, which Maricopa County voters approved in 2024.

4. Help Shape the Future of Travel in the North Valley

The North Valley Corridor Study focuses on improving safety, mobility and regional connectivity along a 15-mile stretch of I-17 and Loop 101

The North Valley Corridor Study focuses on improving safety, mobility and regional connectivity along a 15-mile stretch of I-17 and Loop 101, one of the fastest-growing and most heavily traveled areas in the MAG region.

Through data analysis, community input and collaboration with partner agencies, the study identifies potential improvements to freeways, interchanges and arterials to address congestion today while planning for future growth.
