Weekly Pattern in Visits

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the local economy, commercial patterns, and consumer behavior. This dashboard shows the relative change in visits to points-of-interest (POI) by NAICS code from the week of March 1, 2020 using SafeGraph data. Key dates of interventions in response to the pandemic are also included. Visualizing these trends shows what sectors of the economy were impacted by the pandemic and to what extent, as well as how interventions may have changed the impact. This can be useful for decisionmakers to determine the impact on the economy and identify metrics to plan reopening efforts.

The following interactive charts show the relative change of mobility, based on number of visits compared to a previous time period. Select a metric using the dropdown list below: one option uses the first week of March 2020 as the benchmark; the other uses the same time last year as the benchmark. The values on the line chart show weekly visits as a percentage of visits during the selected baseline time period. Hover over the lines to see more detailed information for each week. Click on a legend item to highlight the series on the chart.

The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) collaborates with SafeGraph as part of the SafeGraph COVID-19 Data Consortium. The purpose is to use data to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the local economy.
