The Cave Creek Road Widening Study - led by Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) and in partnership with the City of Phoenix and Town of Cave Creek - main objective is to assess existing and future travel demands within the study corridor and develop a program of near-term (2030) roadway and intersection spot improvements and a modernized, long-term (2050) recommended roadway cross section(s) for Cave Creek Road between Rose Garden Lane and Carefree Highway

  • 2.) 2050 Visioning 2nd Segment

  • The second segment of the study corridor encounters constraints due to nearby homes and utilities, including a Town of Cave Creek’s water line along the west side of Cave Creek Road. As a result, the City of Phoenix scenic corridor overlay and multi-use trail are only feasible on the east side of the roadway.

  • Cross Section Preference

Two different cross-section options are being considered for this corridor. Both include shared-use paths and bike facilities, but differ in how the bike lanes are designed.

Option A: Buffered Bike Lane – A bike lane separated from vehicle traffic by a painted buffer area.
Option B: Barrier-Separated Bike Lane – A bike lane physically separated from vehicle traffic by a raised barrier.

Please review the two cross-section illustrations below and select the option you prefer. Your feedback will help the project team understand community preferences for bicycle and vehicle separation along this corridor.

  • 3.) 2050 Visioning 3rd Segment

  • This third segment of the study corridor contains vacant properties along with residential developments already incorporating the scenic corridor overlay. Approximately 7.15 miles of this segment is located within the City of Phoenix and the Town of Cave Creek has roughly .6 miles of Cave Creek Road. A single cross section was designed to apply to both City of Phoenix and Town of Cave Creek frontages.
